Nipple inversion, also known as inverted nipples, occurs when the nipple retracts or sinks into the breast rather than protruding outward. This condition can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired due to other factors, such as breastfeeding trauma, surgery, or certain medical conditions. While nipple inversion is generally harmless, it can cause aesthetic concerns, difficulties with breastfeeding, or, in rare cases, signal an underlying health issue.
For mild cases of nipple inversion, non-surgical treatments can sometimes be effective like suction devices.
