Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation

Breasts change over time losing their youthful shape and firmness. It could be postpartum , due to major weight loss, tuberous deformity or age related. Breast augmentation surgery helps in restoring breast firmness and gives fuller look.

Breast augmentation also known as, Augmentation Mammoplasty is placement of breast implants under the breasts. It is done through small incision, usually an inch in size, placed at inconspicuous site, commonly under breast crease through which breast implant is inserted.

Breast augmentation can provide a more balanced silhouette and a wider range of clothing options, often contributing to increased confidence.

If the inversion is severe, surgical treatment may be necessary.

Nipple Release Surgery: This procedure involves cutting the tight tissue or ducts underneath the nipple to allow it to protrude. Care is taken to preserve breastfeeding capabilities where possible.

Types of Breast Implants

Filled with sterile saltwater, saline implants are inserted empty and then filled to the desired volume. If a saline implant leaks, the saline is harmlessly absorbed by the body.

Filled with silicone gel, these implants are pre-filled to a specific volume. Silicone implants often have a more natural feel but require regular monitoring for potential leaks.

Other variations include:

Breast augmentation can also be done by fat grafting in selected cases in which patient do not want silicone implants. In this technique, patients own fat harvested from abdomen area is transferred to breast.

The Fat Grafting Procedure

Fat grafting involves three main steps: harvesting, processing, and injecting the fat into the breasts.

The surgeon uses liposuction to extract fat from a donor site, typically the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. This involves inserting a small cannula through tiny incisions and gently suctioning out the fat.

The extracted fat is processed to remove impurities, excess fluid, and other unwanted components, leaving behind purified fat cells.

The purified fat is carefully injected into the breasts in multiple small deposits to ensure even distribution and optimal results. The surgeon strategically places the fat to achieve the desired shape and contour.

Fat grafting can provide a natural and subtle enhancement to the breasts. However, due to the potential for fat absorption, additional sessions may be required to achieve the desired volume and symmetry. The long-term results depend on factors like the surgeon’s technique, the patient’s anatomy, and the healing process.

Axillary breast tissue, also known as axillary accessory breast tissue or axillary polymastia, is a condition where extra breast tissue develops in the armpit (axilla) area. This condition is a subset of a broader phenomenon known as accessory breast tissue or polymastia, in which additional breast tissue forms along the “milk lines” or “mammary ridges.” These lines extend from the armpits to the groin, where breast tissue naturally develops during fetal development.

The presence of axillary breast tissue can vary in its manifestation, ranging from a small lump or nodule to more pronounced and visible breast-like tissue in the armpit. It’s relatively common for women.

Signs and Symptoms

The symptoms associated with axillary breast tissue can range from mild to severe, depending on the size, location, and hormonal activity of the tissue.

Common signs and symptoms include:

A noticeable lump or mass in the armpit area.

Tenderness, especially during hormonal changes such as menstruation or pregnancy.

The tissue might become more sensitive or swollen due to hormonal fluctuations.

A visible bulge or additional tissue in the armpit, which can be mistaken for a lymph node or other benign condition.

Management :

If asymptomatic and not causing discomfort, simple observation and regular check-ups may be sufficient.

If the tissue causes pain, discomfort, or cosmetic issues, surgical removal may be considered.
